seems like nobody has an opinion on the new lauryn hill song yet. i guess everyone’s waiting for a “tastemaker” or “thought leader” website to speak on it first so we can all share an opinion on it.
well those folks don’t work weekends so i’ll save you the wait until monday morning. “neurotic society” is interesting. it’s thought-provoking. it’s lauryn hill with an edge we haven’t heard for way too long.
i like it. you might hate it. and you can totally hate it; it’s perfectly hate-able. she admitted it’s rushed. it sounds unfinished. there’s no hook. there’s no clever remix by someone who’s good with twitter. she doesn’t have an instagram. she took a record label bailout instead of making a kickstarter. she doesn’t let us be part of her life.
but it made me feel rage. for 4 minutes, it transported me into her headspace. and for me, that’s worth 99 cents on itunes and a couple of followers. what do you think?
